Bespoke Airy Workshop with Potting Bench
Bring workshop space and seedling preparation together in a timber building designed around the way you garden. This customer’s bespoke build combines a full side of fixed toughened-glass windows with a full-length potting bench and offset double doors.
It is an example of our made-to-order work, rather than a standard specification for every workshop. Contact us to discuss your own dimensions, layout and quotation.
The featured customer build
- 22mm tongue-and-groove cladding on a heavy-duty frame
- 12mm tongue-and-groove roof
- Extra-height fixed side windows with toughened glass
- Offset, fully framed, ledged and braced double doors with bolted-through hinges
- Drip strips above the door and below the windows
- Full-length potting bench
- Supplied without a timber floor, to fit over the customer’s concrete base
Dimensions to confirm
The featured building is listed as 3.96m x 4.6m, with an imperial size of 13' x 14'. These measurements do not agree, and the search listing separately refers to 3.96m x 4.2m. Please confirm the intended dimensions with our team before ordering or preparing a base.
Overall height, internal working space and the clear opening of the featured double doors also need confirmation. Do not use the general range’s single-door dimensions to judge access for this build.
General workshop range and customisation
Our timber workshops are made to order in our own workshops. The following details describe the wider range and available alternatives, not additional features automatically included with the customer build above. Your agreed quotation should identify the materials and options for your building.
Frame and cladding
The general range specification lists planed 50 x 50mm framing with 50 x 38mm top and bottom rails. It describes 12mm fifth-grade Swedish redwood pine tongue-and-groove shiplap cladding, with 22mm cladding and tanalising available as alternatives. The featured build specifies 22mm cladding. Boards are secured with galvanised nails.
Roof choices
The range lists 12mm tongue-and-groove roofing, with an exterior-grade 11mm OS board alternative listed at no extra cost. Standard roof covering is described as 20kg green roofing felt, with heavier-duty felt and felt tiles available. Any adaptation for heavier coverings, such as clay tiles, must be agreed for the individual design.
Floor choices
The featured workshop was supplied without a timber floor. For other builds, the range lists 12mm tongue-and-groove flooring or a 16mm alternative, supported on closely spaced 50 x 38mm planed joists. Confirm the floor specification and loading requirements in your quotation.
Windows and doors
The general range describes handmade mortice-and-tenon windows with drip sills and glass fitted with mitred beading on silicone. Double glazing can be discussed as an option.
General single-door construction is described as 12mm tongue-and-groove boards on a fully framed, ledged and braced structure, with three galvanised tee hinges, a mortice keyed lock, round handle and drip strip. These are range details, not confirmation of the hardware or opening measurements of the featured double doors. The previous general single-door imperial and metric measurements conflict, so please obtain the agreed opening size for your order.
Tailor your workshop
Discuss alternative cladding, security hinges, double or stable doors, heavy-duty locks, security windows, skylights, strengthened floors, partitions and roll-on/roll-off roof designs with our team. Availability and suitability depend on the building design and are subject to quotation.
Planning your order
Before accepting a quotation, confirm the final dimensions, base design, floor arrangement, glazing, door opening, roof covering, timber treatment and care requirements. Please also agree what delivery and installation include, site access requirements and the estimated lead time.
